Glass Splashbacks

High-quality flat glass — the foundation of premium glazing

Float glass is the clear, flat glass at the heart of almost every modern glazing project. Prized for its optical clarity and perfectly even surface, it’s used everywhere from windows and shelving to cabinetry and shopfronts — and it’s the base product from which toughened, laminated and other processed glass is made. At Canon Glass, we supply high-quality float glass in Melbourne to meet your exact specifications.

What is float glass?

Float glass gets its name from the way it’s made: molten glass is floated over a bed of molten tin, which produces a sheet that is exceptionally flat, smooth and free of distortion. Once cooled, it can be cut, processed and finished to suit a huge range of uses.

On its own, standard (annealed) float glass is the everyday clear glass used in many fixtures and fittings. When greater strength or safety is required, float glass is processed further — for example, toughened or laminated — to become a safety glass suitable for doors, balustrades, pool fencing and wet areas.

Why choose float glass?

  • Optical clarity — smooth, distortion-free glass with excellent visual quality
  • Versatility — the basis for windows, shelving, framing, splashbacks and more
  • Range of thicknesses — available to suit light fittings through to structural glazing
  • Processable — can be cut, polished, toughened, laminated or coated as needed
  • Quality assured — manufactured to meet Australian standards and project requirements

  • Windows and glazing
  • Display shelving and cabinetry
